Literature Review Draft Evaluation Questions

Carefully and thoroughly read the literature reviews. Respond to each question in as detailed and explicit fashion as possible. Give the type of help you would like to receive.

  • Describe what about the introductory material interests you and makes clear the project's topic. Is the context for the literature review clear? If not, suggest how the writer might make this context clearer. If so, provide some explanation as to what makes it clear.
  • Based on your reading of the literature review, describe in as much detail as possible what the main points of the essay will be.
  • Based on your reading of the literature review, what in the essay needs to be emphasized? Provide some explanation/suggestions.
  • Based on your reading of the literature review, what seems to be missing or understated? Provide some explanation/suggestions.
  • Based on your reading of the literature review, what is hinted at but not made clear? How might this material be made clearer? Provide some specific examples, explanation and/or suggestions.
  • Is it clear which material supports the topic and which will be the opposing view? If not, suggest ways that the writer can make this distinction clear for their readers.
  • Is the Works Cited page complete? Does it make use of MLA format? If not, provide the writer some suggestions on how they can correct this.
  • Are there any mechanical errors that need revision? Show the author the most glaring errors. However, do not edit the paper for them.
  • If you were to change one thing in this paper, suggest that change to the writer.
