Chapter 4 Draft, Cathy

The Cost to America for Undocumented Aliens

It has been a concern since 9/11 to safe guard the United States from another attack. But the facts are that we don't even know who is here. Undocumented illlegal aliens are recieving aid payed by the American taxpayer. Some $625.00 per year to tax payers for education, medical expenses and incarceration for illegal aliens, are cuasing a budget short fall in many states.Accoring to the writings in Liberty and the Subjection of Women John Stuart Mill Writes "if we display misconduct, it displays also painful, degrading consequences, if justly censored."

Thousands of aliens are flooding over the U.S./ Mexican border looking for a better life at the expence of the american tax payer. The United States has always been a compationate country, aiding in many foriegn natrural relief prodjects and the christen missonaries are helping people all over the world see a better tomarrow. We send tons of food and clothing and even have Dr.s volenteering time and money to help the less fortunate.Even fling children of other countries to the United States for surgeries that need specialized equiptment available here, not coveniant to transport over-seas to give these childern a new lease on Life.

Many say that the United States is going to far, thate we are dividing families and we are dependant on these aliens to do jobs that the americans refuse because of the low pay. The truth of the matter is that these people that are here illegally wanting the american tax- payer to pay for K-12th grade education, not in our native language but the theirs. They are usually unskilled labor and are not fluent in english or customs of the country they are now residing. To communicate takes interpretors so they can recieve medical care. Many being unskilled turn to selling illlegal drugs and become incarcerated in our prisons and depoted back to Mexico. They are not gone long before they cross- over again, with new identification(freudulent).

illegal aliens

The introduction makes it seem there are three directions the argument will take--concerns over national security and concerns of jobs lost to immigrants, or budget concerns. I suggest going with just one of these arguments as there is plenty to write about with either of them. Decide on one and go with that so the essay will have a more functional focus.

The present draft has a lot of assertions, but each of those needs to be fleshed out and supported with scholarly evidence. There are likely census data reports on education levels of illegal immigrants, their level of income and so on. Likely there is also information on the taxes they pay (such as social security, which they will never get back) and the like. Bradley
