X2
X: "Did I miss anything important?"
From what I've picked up in class, I can come up with a few examples for what X is, does, and means. I really honestly don't understand this excercise or any of the ones we have been doing, but hopefully I'll pick up and get what is the point of this and what I'm supposed to get out of it.
X is 1. a statement, 2. an interogative sentence, 3. five words long, 4. compilation of symbols, 5. words in the english language, 6. a sign of confusion, 7. 25 letters long, 8. wants an answer, 9. written language, 10. random
X asks a question, aks for an answer, assumes someone knows the answer.
X means that someone wasn't paying attention, someone exists to ask the question.

Subconscious
Yes I agree. The sentence, "Did I miss anything important?" implies that someone is talking to themselves, and that, as you suggested, that they know the immediate answer. The question definately reminds me of my subconscious. This sentence made me think a lot more than the assignment yesterday.
maybe..
When you said "someone exists to ask the question" you'd assume that someone was asking another person, but they could also be asking themselves to double check the information that they got, or having an internal battle which I'm sure many of us have on a daily basis. There are so many different ways to go with it I think. You had some good unique answers.
assumption
"assumes someone knows the answer"
i thought this was an original idea, it makes a lot of sense and I don't think anyone else said that on their posts.

same
i think that is very interesting as well. could it be applied to just one person though? for example if i was packing for a trip could i ask myself "am i missing anything important?" and have the "someone" that knows the answer be myself. basically could i ask and also have the answer at the same time?
( i dont think this question really applies to this class but i am interested to know! :)
sure it does!
sure that question applies. like i said on my blog, it is an inner conflict, inner confusion, an inner struggle. can you say that you have never said something like "where did I put that?" only to reply to yourself a second later "OH! it's right here!" ???
That was perfectly applicable and relevant to this. A lot of people had that approach: I am asking the question and I might have the answer...
