Journal 17
Well I guess that the big D still matters today in that it is a historical document that marked our independance from the tyrannical rule of England back in the 1700's. It can also give other nations hope in that they can rebel against their captors, such as India did back to France when Ghandi was still around. It also shows that Democracy prevails over monarchy. Much of the points illustrated in the document can still be used today but as time goes on and the government evolves there will be more and more amendments to the constitution till eventually it will be worth no more in deciding the laws of our country. It will merely remain as a historical document that shows the founding of this nation. Nothing more and nothing less. So X is a historical document that links us to the past and the founding of the nation. X is a guiding beacon that shapes what we can and can't do in the US of A. And X is also the document that marks the end of tyrannical rule from England. The first one lets people reminisce about the olden days and how the United States was founded. They can go back to a simpler time when people could be killed because someone had accused them of being a witch and people went to bed early because there was no electricity for them to use to power their brand new computers. Also no matter how far this nation strays from itself, it will always have the foundation known as that document. Now for it being a guiding beacon, I have covered some of that in it gives hope and such. Also in my previous statement in how it is a foundation and guides the country in a hopefully safe direction. It can lay down the law by being interpreted by the judges on the highest court system. And finally X being the humble declaration of freedom from England. It does just what it says. Shows that America doesn't take it when it comes to being taxed with out fair representation. It marks our freedom back in 1776 when it was signed by the founding fathers of this nation.
Now why was it written? The founding fathers didn't just wake up one day and think that they should write out a document that will be the building blocks for a nation. Nope, they carefully hand picked the words that they so wanted in that document because it was going to be their constitution that would guide their newly devoloping nation. It was written to be the foundation in which all of America would be built upon. So as when someone had a problem with the law, they could consult the documents vast knowledge of laws and tell them if they were right or wrong.
