Jessica's Sonnet

My sonnet is about springtime (my favorite time of year). I know it's a little early for it being January and all, but it's what inspired me to write this. Just remember this in 4 months and then I'll be right on track.

Winter's dreary days will soon be behind,
the sun peeks through clouds that no longer can hide.
With new life Mother Nature is kind,
for she blesses the fauna and flora with her pride.

With the fragrant flowers of spring in bloom,
they burst forth with colors not seen for a time.
The birds sing songs with brilliant plumes,
showing us all their brilliant rhymes.

The green grass drinks thirstily from the rain,
renewing itself, with vigor to grow.
Of these springtime showers no one complains,
for they nurture new life as we all know.

With the cold months and harsh times long gone,
we all rejoice with spring's beautiful song.

Very lively

I thought your sonnet was very nice. You really captured the anticipation of new life quite well, like with the flowers bursting into colors that they had not seen for a time. Also, I think everyone is still in anticipation for spring since the snow is already gone, and it doesn't look like winter is coming back. I feel kinda bad for winter though, because I also bashed it in my sonnet. It seems that nobody in our class likes winter enough to write a sonnet about it. Or maybe somebody did, and I didn't read it yet.

Beautiful Imagery

When reading this I can really visualize the winter days melting away into springtime. The line "The green grass drinks thirstily from the rain,/ Renewing itself, with vigor to grow." I can picture in my mine happy little spurts of grass just drinking in the rain and spread like a blanket of green. All of your descriptions are excellent and I really wish that it was springtime already.
