I don't really see the contradictions with what the characters say and their actions. This first act slightly confused me as well. I wasn't clear as to why Richard let the start a duel and then immediately drop his staff and stop the duel. Was he doing this to make Mowbray and Boilngbroke think that they were in control. I guess that the King letting them start a duel and then stopping it is a contradiction.
Contradictions?
Yeah i agree that I couldn't really find alot of contradictions between their actions and words, but now that you said the thing about the king, I do agree. It did seem kind of strange that the king allowed a duel and then broke up the fight. He seems a bit confused with what he wants and how he wants his people to act.
