Journal 19: Richard is not.
Richard's couplet Act III Scene II Lines 214-15 "Discharge my followers. Let them hence away/From Richard's night to Bolingbroke's fair day." seems like the conclusion of Bolingbroke raising armies and axing Bushy and Green as well as Richard's 'I'm not King, I'm King, I'm not King' speech. And this is where the climax happens.
With regard to Richard and X, Richard is King but only in his birth right. Richard goes back and forth about whether he is king or if Bolingbroke is king while essentially admitting to defeat. "Our lands, our lives, and all are Bolingbroke's; And nothing can we call our own but death," He is accepting this even before Bolingbroke arrives. The only reason he even questions it anymore is because Aumerle says "Comfort, my liege. Remember who you are.". And Richard still isn't sure, he replies with "Am I not King?" and gets a burst of I am King! but then falls back to dispair. This means that when Bolingbroke goes to Flint Castle, Richard will save face when speaking to Bolingbroke and his party at first while crumbling to Aumerle and Scrope. But once Richard goes down to Bolingbroke it means that Richard is no longer going to be the Godly King that is his birth right. He even refers to Bolingbroke as King, "What says King Bolingbroke? Will his majesty Give Richard leave to live till Richard die?"
