Journal 22: Presentational vs Representational
This play, A Comedy of Errors requires the use of presentational directing. To direct this play from a representational standpoint would be to take away from it's comedy tremendously! This play relies heavily on it's characters and the absurdity with which they conduct themselves and deal with various situations. It is not meant to be taken in such a literal sense because many of the situations would not pan out as ideally as it would if presented with a sense of outrageous hilarity. I've seen this play performed before and the actors relied heavily on the audiences, it seemed as if they were feeding off their energy and there was a clear back and forth with the humor between them. If this play were produced without the actors feeding off the audience; if they were to act how they would in "real" life then it wouldn't be funny, just confusing and somewhat annoying because there would be a lack of humor.

I completely agree,
I completely agree, presentational = comedy
