Journal twenty-five -- Hamlet act one

This play is really hard to follow. There are so many things that seem as though they could be themes but I'm just not sure of some of them yet.
Sadness is definitely one that stands out to me. (Kind of hard to miss, since the whole play is just one depressing strand of events) It's definitely apparent from the beginning, though, that the direction of the play is headed in a bummer of a direction. The most sadness I feel is for Ophelia. She's in love with a man who is likely not going to be able to love her forever due to his birth and situation. Madness is a theme that comes from the sadness, but this theme hasn't begun to unfold in the first act, though the stage has indeed been set for it.

best quote that could possibly apply to this

this entire play can be be put somewhat into a nutshell with this particular quote from yoda "Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering". the reason i say this is that hamlet and his uncle both initially start out afraid, which leads them to hating the other, and eventually causing everyone else around them as well as themselves to suffer.

"Oh great Sandwich Maker from Bob! Life, will be a very great deal less weird without you" Old Thrashbarg
