Better than Eliot: Y/N?
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 11/21/2011 - 16:11So in class, we raised ideas about assigning value to poetry, and how one defines poetry as being “good” or “bad”. I claimed I could write a better poem than ‘The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock’ in under five minutes, and never one to welch, I have done thus. The writing took exactly five minutes, plus another minute for editing spelling errors. I wrote it in an intentionally cryptic and imagist style, so that it could be readily compared with T.S. Eliot’s work. Hopefully we can have a lively discussion about whether or not I just TKOed all poetic achievement up to this point.

A New Perspective of Sorts
Authors or poets of any kind typically have an agenda when they write. These agendas sometimes are worthwhile and at others not as much. In his essay, “Theological Implications of Coleridge’s Theory of Imagination” J. Robert Barth examines Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s concept of imagination found in his Biographia Literaria. Coleridge’s theory of imagination reads as follows:
The seminar in class today
Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 10/20/2011 - 12:31I hope that I did not offend anyone in class today by mentioning that I could not get a word in without raising my hand and being called on. I understand it is each of our responsibilities to get our own points across, or attempt to do so during our discussion. No one should necessarily have to continually ask someone what they think, however it may be helpful to hear everyone's perspectives (so that no one has to receive a poor grade) by mentioning a subject and then "going down the line" with responses, as was mentioned earlier in class.
Teri's book club choices
Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 10/05/2011 - 17:20I am just posting my book club selections on a new blog because I have thought and decided what my choices would be in a perfect world! My first choice would be Pride and Prejudice because I have not read it but have heard a lot about it and would acually read this one! Not like I don't read the material! Anyway, my second choice would be Jane Eyre because I heard that it has kind of the same feel as Pride and Prejudice so there are my choices!
Party at the Halberstadts!
Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 03/18/2011 - 08:24Since everyone in my drama club enjoyed coming over to my house to have pizza and shoot rubber band guns:
Party at the Halberstadts!
Ain't no party like a Halberstadt party, 'cause a Halberstadt party don't stop!
After the final, if we're all not brain dead or have other stuff to do, please come over for pizza and such. I'll make the pizza and have sodas (or pop, if you are from the Pacific Northwest). If you want snacks, veggies, or desert, please bring some to share. I'll make actual pizza, not that frozen shit I've been feeding my cohorts. Sorry, guys. Sometimes I'm lazy...
In lieu of seventeen
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 02/13/2011 - 23:15Here is a way to boil a four hour production down to six minutes. Also a different interpretation of Hamlet. http://community.knowitallvideo.com/_The-Simpsons-Hamlet/video/26849/166...
Is A Transmission Expensive?
Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 10:40My Transmission went out last night while driving home from work, and ended up walking 5 miles back to my house, so I will not be in class today mainly because It's 7 miles to the bus stop and I don't have a car :( Now I'm glad our journals can be posted online

Rough Draft of Sonnet Looking for Critique
Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 01/18/2011 - 01:04Alrighty, ever since I could remember I have never had any confidence in my own writing, and yet sadly want to become a novelist. Sooo, here is my sonnet for the assignment due on Friday, I really would like anyone's input on making it better. (this being my first sonnet) All I can say is thank (fill in the blank) that I'm using an alias. ^-^
The Hero You Make Me
I could barely stand on my own two feet,
Or raise a sword to the heavens above;
Was not the type of man you’d care to meet,
Let alone become one you would love.
